Colota ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and handle your data.
1. Overview
Colota is a location-tracking tool designed to help users record and export their movement history.
2. Location Data Collection
- Background Access: This app requires access to your location even when the app is closed or not in use to record your movement history continuously.
- Core Feature: Without background access, the app cannot accurately record your tracks if you switch to another app or turn off your screen.
- User Control: You will be asked to grant this permission explicitly. You can revoke it at any time in the Android system settings.
3. Data Storage and Third Parties
- Local Storage: All location data is stored locally on your device's database.
- No Server Uploads: We do not transmit your location data to our own servers.
- No Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, or trade your data.
4. Data Export
When you use the "Export" feature, the app generates a file (CSV, GeoJSON, or GPX) on your device. Sharing this file is entirely under your control.
5. Data Transmission (Remote Endpoint)
- User-Defined Endpoint: The app includes an optional feature to transmit location data to a server URL provided by you.
- Encryption: Data sent to your custom endpoint is transmitted over HTTPS to ensure it is encrypted in transit.
- Control: This feature is disabled by default.
6. Data Deletion & Retention
- Retention: Since data is stored locally, it remains on your device as long as the app is installed.
- Manual Deletion: You can delete specific tracks or the entire database within the app settings.
- Account Deletion: Since Locata does not use accounts, "deleting your account" is as simple as clearing the app data or uninstalling the app, which removes all collected location history.
