Farewell to winter and the cold!

  1. A crimson-and-white starfish clinging to the glass of an aquarium tank, cardinalfish drifting between pale coral branches in deep blue light.
  2. The harbour promenade at Puerto de Mogán: pastel houses with green shutters and wrought-iron balconies, bougainvillea and palms, a mast rising behind.
  3. A drift of orange sea nettles trailing long frilled tentacles through near-black water in an aquarium tank.
  4. A darkened aquarium hall with pinprick lights in the ceiling, visitors dwarfed by a wide curved viewing window full of fish.
  5. Seafood spaghetti with langoustine, prawns and clams on a terrace table, the sea and a lifebuoy just beyond the railing.
  6. A seawater tidal pool at sunset, handrails leading down to the water and the low sun breaking through cloud over the coast.
  7. A large seafood platter — whole grilled fish, mussels, clams, prawns, squid and papas arrugadas — on a slate dish with salad and bread.
